Set around a maze of cobbled streets it's a marketplace for antiques and quality gifts, speciality food, many art galleries, second hand bookshops and vintage boutiques. Virtually next door to the apartment are the glorious Glenogle Baths, restored to their Victorian splendour of 1897 only last year and well worth a visit for a morning dip.   The apartment has two bedrooms and is beautifully decorated throughout, with ornate cornices, stylish shutters and deep window seats. The spacious rooms are tastefully furnished in contemporary classic style. The décor is soft and warm and contrasted with inspired mirrors and distinctive lighting. You will find the most impeccable standards of cleaning and comfort throughout.      The apartment   Living room    A beautifully proportioned, twin windowed, south facing drawing room enjoying sunlight by day and traditional Georgian street lamplight at night. There are ample comfortable cream sofas and armchairs surrounding the marble fireplace which has a living flame fire and large over mantle mirror. Lamps, rugs, pictures and soft décor add to the many comforts as does the illuminated oak glass bureau equipped with crystal champagne flutes.  A dining area by the window completes this room and working shutters can be closed at night for extra snugness.     Kitchenette   A small but well equipped kitchenette is located off the drawing room with dishwasher, washing/drying machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, gas hob and electric oven.  Added luxuries include crystal champagne flutes for evening celebrations and a coffee maker for a relaxing Sunday morning.     Master Bedroom   The master bedroom is beautifully presented and enjoys a quiet and sunny position to the rear looking towards The Royal Botanical Garden.  It has fitted wardrobes and a contemporary en-suite bathroom and deep window seat from which to admire the garden and views beyond.       The Master Bedroom with En suite in Back ground   Bedroom 2   A bright and peaceful room again located to the rear which enjoys the quiet and sunshine.  This room has access to the separate contemporary shower room with basin and WC. Around a maze of cobbled streets it's a marketplace for antiques and quality gifts, speciality food, many art galleries, second hand bookshops and vintage boutiques.  Along St Stephen Street itself, you'll find coffee shops, delis, famous traditional pubs and contemporary wine bars.  Stockbridge village offers the perfect antidote to all the perfect symmetry and neoclassical grandeur of the New Town, perhaps explaining why Stockbridge has been home to many artists and writers over the years, among them the painter Sir Henry Raeburn (1756-1823) and 19th-century junkie Thomas de Quincey (1785-1859), author of Confessions of an English Opium Eater. It is a wonderful location to enjoy the best of both worlds, village living in the city centre.
